We travelled to Southern Italy in the end of February and beginning of March of 2023. Our Southern Italy tour included Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Trani, Bari, Lecce, and Matera; all of our stops were in cities from Naples and further south.

I researched to great extents on what to pack, but never could really get a “perfect” list for me. All of these items were worn on my vacation. If something wasn’t the best choice either for weather or comfort, I left it off of my list. Keep in mind I am warm natured so if you tend to get cold easily, I would pack a coat as well. A lot of people in our tour group wore coats. The lists below are what to pack for a trip to Southern Italy in late winter.

When we travel, we try to see as much as we can. I have learned to see as much as you can because it may not be there the next time you come back or if you get to come back; Natural disasters, acts of terror, vandalism, fires, etc can easily make a site be no longer or lose its beauty. We take advantage or every moment when we are traveling. We are not ones to nap on vacation or go to bed early; every moment is valuable, so why waste it! For the plane ride, I wanted to be comfortable, warm and be put together enough to hit the ground running!

This is what I wore on the long flights from Atlanta to Naples Italy.

I purchased my beyond yoga pants from Stitch Fix;

Once we arrived to the hotel, we cleaned up, changed and had aperitivos and wine while we waited for dinner. We had dinner at the hotel with our tour guide and the other travelers on our tour. I got freshened up and wore.

These are all the items I packed and wore. The weather was pretty mild; we had some drizzling rain, but nothing to stop us from venturing out! The forecast was rainy most days, but we were very lucky to only be affected by the rain one day. Below you can see the weather report from most days while we were in Southern Italy. Some days required a light jacket/blazer/windbreaker and others a light long sleeve top was fine for me.

This is what I packed for the trip. I mixed and matched and wore a few items more than once. I typically had an outfit I wore for the touring and then changed into something nicer for dinner.

I think I could have gotten away with taking less shoes, but I was glad to have them all during different occasions.

You will also have to pack toiletries, makeup, power adapters (be sure to get one for Italy), chargers, pajamas, and under garments. There are so many options, I decided I would just give them a mention!

The weather is mild in Southern Italy, so it isn’t too hard to pack for later winter time. Hopefully you will find this list helpful for your winter trip to southern Italy.
